Handcarved Texas State Flag

This rustic 36" x 24" Texas Flag is the perfect centerpiece to any proud Texan's home or office. Vibrant colors, a handcarved star, and textured look make this the perfect conversation piece! 
 
THE MATERIALS: Flags are made from Pine wood. The colors are created using an acrylic paint and colored stain. The finish is achieved using a SATIN Polyacrylic (3 coats). 
 
THE PROCESS: Wood is hand selected, pieces are cut, and the flag is roughly assembled. I use a special technique to "dig" the soft fibers of wood out, leaving behind a textured, aged finish. After lightly torching the wood, I apply several coats of white acrylic paint and red/blue stain. After everything dries, I lay out the design for the star, then get to work carving by hand. Once everything is carved to my satisfaction, I use a small torch to burn the exposed wood until the coloring I'm looking for is achieved. A light sanding enhances the rustic appearance, preparing it for the finish. 
 
THE FINISH: I finish all our flags with 3 coats of Satin Polyacrylic. I favor this product since it does not yellow over time like many Lacquers and Polyurethane products. We recommend indoor use only.   Outdoor finishes utilize water-based Spar-Urethane.  3 coats are applied to the back and 5 coats to the front.  Refinishing instructions are included with all outdoor flags.
 
DISPLAY: Each flag will have 50lb picture wire installed prior to delivery.
